ITSC Highlights Key Terms of Use for CMU Account Users

The Information Technology Service Center (ITSC), Chiang Mai University, encourages students and staff to review the IT account terms of use to understand their responsibilities, permitted uses, and data management requirements. The six key points are summarized below.

1. Keep Your Account Personal
Do not share your account or password, or transfer account access to others. Users are responsible for activities conducted through their accounts, including civil and criminal liability. ITSC is not responsible for damage arising from users’ activities.

2. Use Your Account for University Purposes Only
Accounts must be used for academic, research, or administrative purposes in accordance with applicable laws and university policies. Commercial use, infringement of others’ rights, distribution of inappropriate content, and disruption of university systems are prohibited.

3. Report Unusual Activity Immediately
If your password has been compromised or you notice unusual account activity, contact ITSC immediately to help protect university systems.

4. Back Up Your Data Before Your Student or Staff Status Ends
Accounts will be suspended or their data deleted according to the designated schedule after student or staff status ends. Users should back up their data in advance. Under the applicable conditions, ITSC is not responsible for data loss after one month following the end of that status.

5. Keep Your Information Accurate and Up to Date
Users must provide accurate, truthful, and current registration information and keep it updated. ITSC stores, processes, or discloses personal data and computer traffic data (log files) for the benefit of the university or users, or as required by law and orders issued by competent authorities.

6. Stay Informed About the Terms of Use
ITSC may immediately suspend services in the event of a violation of the terms or for security reasons. Changes will be announced through the IT Account Agreement page. Continued use of the services following an announcement constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
